Save The Cardamom Mountains Project

By Jon Hendricks

If you are looking for a really beautiful mountain range then you should look to the Cardamom Mountains of Cambodia. But look before they are completely destroyed by illegal hunting, forestry and land clearance. Or else you need to offer some help to the Cardamom Project of New York, an organisation dedicated to the preservation of this mountain range.

The organization is based in New York city and has dedicated itself to attempting to preserve the Cardamom Mountains. They have two goals for this beautiful mountain range in Cambodia.

They are attempting to raise awareness among the public and the locals about how the mountains are being negatively affected by all of the human activity. Many people are not aware of just how much damage things like logging and poaching do to the mountains. The project raises this awareness as best they can through running all kinds of fund raisers and donating the proceeds to the effort.

The organization is also trying to make the mountains a path to renewal for the Cambodians. Cambodia has faced many years of hardship and need a helping hand getting back in touch with their natural heritage. The aim is to educate the locals and get them to care for their section of the mountain range and stop the destruction in its tracks and help the range renew itself.

The cardamom project is a truly wonderful idea. If only there were a few more around the world. There are plenty of other natural areas that would benefit from this kind of dedication and assistance. The earth is already suffering and is only going to suffer more if we keep going the way we have been.

It is very important that we protect our heritage. Everyone needs to catch a wakeup and begin to campaign for our natural surroundings. There are plenty of people out there who are willing to help out, all that they need are the funds and the cause to flock to. You cannot restore something that is gone completely however you can stop all of the damage that has already occurred from totally destroying your natural heritage if you start now with conservation effort.
